Emotional Freedom Techniques
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or “Tapping”) is a healing modality that uses practices from acupressure and talk therapy to help shift behavioral and emotional patterns. It is a form of "psychological acupressure", using elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy. It is based on the same energy meridians or channels used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments. In EFT cognitive thoughts are combined with simple tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian points on the hand, head and chest. This tapping helps remove energy disturbances and allows the client to overcome emotional and physical challenges. The combination of tapping on energy meridians and voicing cognitive thoughts works to clear the emotional block from the body's energy system, thus restoring the mind and body's balance, which is essential for optimal health.
EFT has proven effective in eliminating stress, neutralizing emotional and physical pain, and abolishing cravings. It is often used to heal past traumatic events, address anxieties about the future, resolve feelings of anger, and to correct self-sabotaging thought patterns.
